ICDL survey reveals UAE youth are at risk of online threats and calls for teaching social media and cyber safety in schools
86 per cent unsure whom to talk to when victimized on cyber space
A recent survey of 883 youth from across the UAE was published by ICDL GCC Foundation- an advocate of digital skills and cyber safety for-all; and the sole operator of ICDL in the GCC and Iraq- revealed that 95 per cent of school students between the age of 14 and 18 are active on social media. While it is encouraging to see that the UAE youth is quickly adapting to the latest digital channels, the study also showed the dark side of the cyber world. More
ICDL commences application of recently-launched flexible programmes with four new modules in region

ICDL calls on region’s governments to step up public awareness on IT security

UAE’s leading financial institution, Mashreq Bank and ICDL GCC Foundation have joined hands to empower 22 orphan youth from Ajman Emirate with essential skills in social media and cyber safety.
This initiative is taking place now at Ajman University facilities in a Summer Camp format and will run until September 9, 2013, as part of ICDL Summer Camp 2013 groups. The ICDL Summer Camp program focuses this year on educating the young participants on safety measures when using social media websites and smart devices. The Summer Camp is set to offer students a chance to have a productive summer by learning new skills and socializing with others in a fun learning environment. More
