Increased social media interaction urged with local government entities
ICDL Arabia, the governing body and certification authority for the ICDL certificate program in Egypt, GCC States and Iraq, has called on the public to increase their online engagement with various departments of the UAE, specifically by further utilizing social media as a strategic platform to discuss and resolve issues of public importance in a timely manner, increase awareness of government initiatives, and collate feedback. This comes following a recent survey titled ‘2014 UAE Social Media Outlook: Increasing Connectivity Between Government and Citizen,’ conducted by the Governance and Innovation Programme at the Mohammad Bin Rashid School of Government (MBRSG). GCC countries dominate top 5 Arab States recording in ICT development Index
ICDL Arabia, the governing body and certification authority for the ICDL certification program in Egypt, GCC States and Iraq, has expanded on the recent findings of the 2014 report published by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), the United Nations’ specialized agency for ICT, pointing out the outstanding performance of the GCC countries in the report. The ITU’s flagship annual report ‘Measuring the Information Society Report’ has identified Gulf countries among the group of ‘most dynamic countries,’ having recorded above-average improvements in their ICT Development Index (IDI) rank over the past 12 months. ICDL Warns Not to Renew Accreditation of Centers Failing to Meet its Standards
ICDL Arabia, the local awarding body of the ICDL certification, responsible for promoting digital skills and cyber safety has revealed that it will not renew the accreditation of those training centers that fail to comply with its international quality standards. The Foundation has been forced to take impartial measures on all accredited centers following a recent review of the network of 416 centers accredited by it to deliver the ICDL training and testing, indicating that several centers, particularly some private ones, are substandard and not up to par with the ICDL standards. ICDL Arabia reports 24% increase in the enrolment of GCC Nationals
ICDL Arabia, the governing body and certification authority for the ICDL certificate program in the GCC, Egypt and Iraq, has announced that it has registered a 24% increase in the number of GCC applicants enrolling in the New ICDL program so far this year. This is attributed to the New ICDL modules and the flexibility offered in the new structure of the program as introduced earlier this year. The increase in the number of GCC applicants is 24%, with UAE representing 42% of this increase followed by Qatar 31%, Bahrain 18%, Oman 6% and Saudi Arabia %3.
Arab Open University-Kuwait adopts New ICDL
Continuing Learning and Community Service Unit to become ICDL accredited training and testing center
The Arab Open University-Kuwait (AOU), a locally and globally accredited academic institution, has recently entered into a strategic partnership with ICDL Arabia, the governing body and certification authority for the ICDL certificate program in Egypt, the GCC States and Iraq. Under the terms of the agreement, the university’s Continuing Learning and Community Service Unit have become an officially accredited center for training and testing for ICDL certification. The AOU has been chosen as ICDL Arabia’s strategic partner because of its active role in the dissemination of digital literacy and IT knowledge among students and Kuwaiti society, through integration of the latest technology and innovations within the educational process. ICDL launches ‘ICDL for Teachers’ initiative to enable interactive classroom learning
New certification initiative empowers teachers to adopt modern teaching strategies using ICT and Cyber Safety in the classroom
ICDL Arabia, the governing body and certification authority for the ICDL certificate program in Egypt, the GCC States and Iraq, has announced that it has launched a new initiative specially designed for teachers in the region. The ‘ICDL for Teachers’ initiative aims to empower teachers with the skills they need to develop modern teaching strategies using ICT in their teaching practices, allowing them to achieve educational goals more efficiently. Enhanced ICT skills enable teachers to simplify routine tasks, such as planning lessons more efficiently; enhance communication with students and parents; improve collaboration between educators; and adopt cyber safety within the school environment. ICDL to pursue legal actions against forgers of its certificates in Egypt
Charges Against fake ICDL certificate holders to be dropped if accused completes ICDL requirements by year end.
ICDL Arabia, the governing body and certification authority for the ICDL certificate program in Egypt, GCC States and Iraq, has issued a statement confirming that it will take tough and immediate legal actions against all those who illegally produce, sell and grant fake ICDL certificates. The statement also confirmed that ICDL Arabia will also pursue the holders of these fake certificates as well. ICDL Arabia vowed to pursue these cases legally and work closely with the concerned Egyptian authorities to put an end to the proliferation of fraudulent certificates. More
