ICDL Academic Certification

Overview  

Students in schools are often assessed on their lower-level thinking skills such as their ability to retain and recall information. With the ongoing advancement of technology changing the way we learn and live, our kids must be empowered with the latest skills to be able to cope, compete and become successful. We must offer them opportunities to become independent thinkers, self-directed learners, so that they are able to learn quickly, think critically, communicate and innovate.

Building on its more than 20 years of experience in ICT skills and in partnership with educational experts from around the world, ICDL designed an ICT qualification framework that directly helps students become digitally and socially rounded, while indirectly gaining knowledge to become critical thinkers, resourceful, and motivated learners. The ICDL Academic Certification for School Students offers a combination of skills, that includes, Productivity Applications, Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Safety, Project Planning, Computing, Web Development and Image Editing.

  Computer and Online Essentials The Computer & Online Essentials module sets out essential concepts and skills relating to the use of computers and devices, file and application management, networks, online information, online communication, and safety. Learn more   
  Office Application Essentials This module sets out the essential concepts and skills needed to start using common office productivity applications – word processing, spreadsheets, and presentations – effectively. Learn more   
  Documents Syllabus 6.0 The Documents module covers the main concepts and skills needed for common word processing tasks, such as creating, formatting, and finishing letters and other everyday documents. Learn more   
  Spreadsheets Syllabus 6.0 The Spreadsheets module covers the main concepts and skills needed to use spreadsheets, such as tasks associated with developing, formatting, modifying, and using a spreadsheet. Learn more

  Cyber Security This module will help candidates understand online security and start to protect their digital life, whether at home or at work. Learn more

  Emerging Technologies 2022 Covering Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things, Big Data, and Cloud Computing, this module provides the conceptual understanding of these emerging technologies that are having a systemic and substantial effect on economies and societies. Learn more   
  Digital Marketing This module sets out essential concepts and skills relating to the fundamentals of digital marketing, including creating a web presence, optimising content for search engines, using social media platforms, carrying out online marketing and advertising across a range of services, as well as monitoring and improving campaigns using analytics.   Project Planning This module enables candidates to use project management software to prepare project plans and monitor projects, including planning and managing time, costs, tasks, and resources. Learn more   
  Computing This module sets out essential concepts and skills relating to the use of computational thinking and coding to create simple computer programs. Learn more   
  Online Search This module enables candidates to demonstrate their skill and knowledge in searching effectively for information. Learn more   
  Cyber Safety This module provides candidates with the skills and knowledge required to operate safely with computers and a range of mobile devices and to be aware of online threats. Candidates will recognise the need to safeguard personal information on computers and mobile devices and will recognise the threats posed by Internet criminals and scams. Learn more   
  Social Media This module will enable Candidates to develop their knowledge and skills in using social media resources effectively both in their personal and professional lives. Candidates will understand why organisations use social media and be aware of the resources necessary for an organisation to use social media tools effectively and safely. Learn more   
  Using Databases This module allows candidates to understand the concept of a database and demonstrate competence in using a database. Learn more   
  Advanced Word Processing This module is a high-level certification programme through which candidates can demonstrate their ability to use the advanced features of word processing applications to enhance their work, improve productivity and save time. Completion of this module will enable candidates to demonstrate professionalism and save time in the creation, production, review, and distribution of documents. Learn more   
  Advanced Spreadsheets This module is a high-level certification programme which presents candidates with the opportunity to bring their spreadsheet skills to an expert level. Completion of this module will enable candidates to master the more advanced functions of spreadsheet applications, enabling them to produce more sophisticated reports, and to perform complex mathematical and statistical calculations, thus saving time and improving productivity in the completion of tasks.   Advanced Presentation The programme covers advanced presentation features that will allow candidates to use the presentation application to its full potential, and to plan and design more effective presentations that have greater impact and that will better engage and involve an audience.   Advanced Databases This module is a high-level certification programme that enables candidates to use the many advanced tools available in database applications to better manage and organize structured information. Successful completion of this module will enable candidates to maximise database functions, in order to manage and analyse high volumes of data, thus enabling the production of the quantity and quality of information that business today demands.
