ICDL Academic Certification

Overview

Transitioning from high school to tertiary education can be very stressful on new university entrants, having to cope with a heavier study load; not to mention the presumption of instantaneous adaptation to an unfamiliar learning environment. Furthermore, it is wrongfully assumed that school graduates possess the natural affinity to apply technology in their learning at the university level. High school students may very well be able to swipe their way through handheld devices and social media apps, but the disappointing fact remains that most high school students graduate lacking the basic skills needed in university education.

Therefore, a proper foundation programme is an important stepping stone to ease students’ way in becoming acclimated and up to speed. ICDL ICT Foundation Programme provides a flexible framework that empowers pre-university students with essential ICT skills covering computer, Internet and common office applications.

ICDL is a level 2 qualification and is accredited by OFQual. This means ICDL is equivalent to a GCSE in terms of UCAS points (ie: for university applications). Same modules are also recognised by the American Council on Education (ACE) www.acenet.edu recommended for college credit.
